Chota (Small) Anhik Mandir

A small, low-roofed temple beside the Boro Govinda Temple in the Puthia palace compound, worth a few minutes for its curved roof and terracotta trim.

About Chota (Small) Anhik Mandir

The Chota Anhik Mandir is one of the smallest temples in Puthia, standing just beside the Boro Govinda Temple inside the compound of Puthia Rajbari. Its curved, hut-shaped roof follows the traditional Bengali chala style, modelled on village houses with thatched roofs.

The front carries bands of terracotta decoration, and its modest size makes a nice contrast with the towered temples around it. It was used by the zamindar household for daily worship, which is what anhik refers to.

Most visitors see it in a few minutes as part of the walk round Puthia, together with the Chota Govinda Mandir, the Dol Temple and the Large Shiva Temple. Evergreen Bangladesh Tours covers the whole group on day trips from Rajshahi.
