Day 1 – Dhaka to Khulna/Mongla: Otter Fishing & Sixty Dome Mosque

Your Sundarbans adventure begins in Dhaka, where you depart by private vehicle and travel toward southwestern Bangladesh.

Along the way, stop to experience traditional otter fishing, one of the most unusual cultural experiences included in the journey. Local fishermen still use specially trained otters to help herd fish toward their nets, preserving a fishing tradition found in only a limited number of places.

Continue to Bagerhat to visit the historic Sixty Dome Mosque, a remarkable 15th-century Islamic monument within a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

After the heritage visit, continue onward to Khulna or Mongla in preparation for entering the Sundarbans the following morning.

Overnight: Khulna / Mongla.

Day 2 – Entering the Sundarbans: Harbaria & Deep Forest Cruise

After breakfast, board your tour vessel and begin your journey into the Sundarbans.

As the boat travels farther from Mongla, watch the scenery gradually change as open waterways give way to dense mangrove forest lining both banks.

Your first major stop is Harbaria Eco-Tourism Centre. Walk along the forest trail and keep watch for spotted deer, monkeys, and birdlife. The observation tower also provides an elevated view across the surrounding mangrove landscape.

Return to the vessel for lunch and continue cruising deeper into the forest toward Katka and Kachikhali, conditions permitting. Travel through tidal rivers and quiet mangrove canals while experiencing the peaceful atmosphere of the wilderness from the water.

As evening approaches, enjoy the sunset over the forest waterways before dinner is served aboard the vessel.

Day 3 – Katka Wildlife Sanctuary & Jamtola Beach

Rise early for one of the most atmospheric experiences of the expedition: a country-boat cruise through the narrow creeks of the Sundarbans.

The early morning is an excellent time to experience the forest as it wakes and to look for birdlife along the quiet waterways.

Return to the main vessel for breakfast before continuing to Katka Wildlife Sanctuary. Walk the forest trails in search of spotted deer, monkeys, and birds. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, although tracks and other signs of animal activity may be encountered.

From Katka, continue to Jamtola Beach, a peaceful location where the mangrove forest reaches the open Bay of Bengal.

After exploring the beach, return to the vessel for lunch and spend the afternoon cruising farther through the forest waterways.

Overnight: Aboard the vessel.

Day 4 – Karamjal Wildlife Centre & Return to Dhaka

After breakfast on board, begin the final cruise back toward Mongla.

On the way, stop at the Karamjal Wildlife Breeding Centre, one of the more accessible parts of the Sundarbans. Enjoy a final forest walk and watch for spotted deer, monkeys, birdlife, and saltwater crocodiles around the waterways and forest edges.

After completing the visit, continue to Mongla and have lunch before beginning the private road journey back to Dhaka.

Arrive in Dhaka in the evening, bringing your four-day Sundarbans expedition to a close.

The Sundarbans is a protected natural environment, and wildlife sightings—including the Royal Bengal Tiger—cannot be promised.

Routes, schedules, forest stops, and activities may also need to change depending on tides, weather, Forest Department regulations, and local conditions. Such flexibility is an important part of traveling responsibly inside the mangrove forest.
