Bangladesh is compact, but travel between regions takes longer than the map suggests. These sample routes show what fits comfortably in 7, 10 and 14 days. Every trip we run is private, so we adjust them to your interests, dates and pace.
How many days do you need?
- 3 to 4 days: Dhaka, Old Dhaka and a day trip to Sonargaon
- 7 days: Dhaka plus two regions, such as tea country and the southwest
- 10 days: the classic first visit, covering city, tea, rivers and heritage
- 14 days: adds North Bengal’s archaeology or a full Sundarbans expedition
7 days: Dhaka, tea country and the Mosque City
- Arrive in Dhaka. Evening walk and dinner.
- Old Dhaka: Lalbagh Fort, Ahsan Manzil, Shakhari Bazar and a boat on the Buriganga.
- Day trip to Sonargaon and Panam City, the old capital of Bengal.
- Train or drive to Sreemangal. Tea gardens and seven-layer tea.
- Lawachara forest and a Khasi or Manipuri village. Return to Dhaka.
- Drive across the Padma Bridge to Bagerhat and the Sixty Dome Mosque.
- Morning visit to Karamjal on the edge of the Sundarbans, then back to Dhaka for your flight.
Our Bangladesh Cultural and Heritage Discovery Tour follows a similar 7-day route.
10 days: the classic first trip
Follow the 7-day route, then add:
- An overnight river journey or a day among the floating markets of Barishal
- A full day in the Sundarbans by boat from Mongla or Khulna
- A slower pace, with a free afternoon in Dhaka before you fly
See our Ten Days Across Bangladesh tour.
14 days: add North Bengal and the deep Sundarbans
Take the 10-day trip and add four days in the north:
- Paharpur, one of the largest Buddhist monasteries south of the Himalayas and a UNESCO World Heritage Site
- Mahasthangarh, the oldest known city site in Bangladesh
- The terracotta temples of Puthia and the Varendra Museum in Rajshahi
Or replace the day trip to the Sundarbans with a three or four-day boat expedition to Katka and Kochikhali, like our Sundarbans Mangrove and Wildlife Expedition.
Tips for planning your route
- Fly into Dhaka. Domestic flights save time to Sylhet, Jashore, Rajshahi and Cox’s Bazar.
- Do not try to see everything. Two or three regions in a week is plenty.
- Build in a spare half day near the end in case of fog or traffic.
- Combining Bangladesh with India or Nepal? See our guide.
